MARINA 'S ON YUCATAN
Date: 2006/07/29 19:08
Where can I find a list of marinas on the Yucatan?
Looking for long term slip for sailboat. Not necessary to be in a 'hot spot'.

You can browse our Marinas and Business section and select the Marias section.

This are the ones you can start looking at:

* Club Nautico Cozumel

* Marina el Cid Cancun

* Puerto Isla Mujeres

There are other smaller marinas in the Cancun area and in the lagoon..

Can you let us know your kind of vessel and your cruise plan?

I hope this help.

Those 3 are all good spots. Also, we found 2 large marinas and several smaller ones inside Puerto Yukalpeten near Progreso on the NW corner of the Yucatan Peninsula. Marina Yukalpeten (Club de Yates de Yukalpeten) and Marina Tortuga are the larger ones there. Good luck.

I am planning to cruise between Isla Mujeres and Veracruz this winter. I am looking for information on anchorages and harbors with or without marinas or other facilities. We are a catamaran with a draft of 4 ft. We do not always need to find other cruisers in the anchorages. Local boat and fishermen are just fine as long as you can get in or out with 4 ft. I would appreciate any information. Thanks, Walt

Hi, Walt, Since you asked ... My new nautical guidebook "Cruising Ports: the Central Amercan Route" is very late getting to the printers, but it should be out in January 07. In the Gulf Coast & Yucatan Peninsula chapters, it covers every anchorage, marina, port, fuel dock, biosphere reserve, etc. between Veracruz and Isla Mujeres - except the "oil coast" down near Coatzalcoalco. This is the 6th edition of our "Cruising Ports" series, since 1982. Check back on this website for news about this nautical guidebook before you cast off, OK? The rest of the book takes boaters from TX and FL down through the Western Caribbean, through the Panama Canal transit, then up the Pacific side of Central America. Good luck. Pat Rains

We're a catamaran, 48'x25', meeting fly-in people in Veracruz. Are there facilities to leave our boat in Veracruz? Unfortuately we leave from Florida before your book comes out, but if it were possible to buy the chapters pertaining to Veracruz and the Yucatan, this would help us greatly. Would the 2001 edition give us enought information?

Unfortunately, the previous 5th edition has sold out of print, but maybe Bluewater Books & Charts in Ft Lauderdale still has some copies left. If not, contact us through our website's email and we'll try to help you with some quick info. info@MexicoBoating.com
