La Paz Hotel Recommendations?

Hi,
We are looking to Bareboat a sailboat with 5 guys in LaPaz, we just came back in May from Tortola, and next year it will be Mexico.
Looking for details on what to do/not to do, as well as provisioning options etc. Any info would be appreciated, particularly looking for nice basic hotel (clean but basic is ok) that we should stay in the day before we leave.

You can try Marina Palmira where Moorings is based; I stayed there four years ago the nights before and after our charter. It is a clean and basic hotel.
Hope this helps.

I have a boat with the moorings in LaPaz, If you want to stay near the Marina Palmyra there are two hotels, The Marina Hotel, or La Concha. If you want to stay in the town I like Los Arcos It is an older hotel but well kept, is right on the water front has a good bar and dinning, it's like out of a Earnest Hemmingway novel.

hola stephen,
coincidence, i did tortola last june with 4 sailing buddies and we are now planning to do sea of cortez in late march, or early april next year. do you know if this is the best time to see whales, i've been told it was!!
did you get any responses on provisioning or on what to do or see during the sail???
i would be interested in knowing more about the sailing options and where good restaurants can be found.
regards, bob in texas

Did anyone ever reply about provisioning? I'm interested in understanding what we can and can't bring with us into Mexico from US. The only thing I've found prohibits beef & it's products in any form. Anyone able to point me to info on this?

Bring something to use as a bimini or something you can use as a shadow on the beach. There is no palm or trees to cover from the sun 8-)
Have a safe cruse

You can buy everything you need at CCC, a major grocery store so no need to buy in the U.S.. Avoid the hassle of bring goods across the border. Myron Eisenzimmer

A great place to stay in LaPaz? Without a doubt - Casa Buena in town. The hotels near the marinas are expensive. We stayed at Casa Buena after putting our sailboat on Dockwise for the trip back home after cruising Mexico for two years. We found it clean, comfortable and very user friendly. It has a palapa kitchen and breakfast is available for extra $. Run by an American couple and they even have internet access! Check out the website. Also, CCC is not far, and has everything you'll need food wise. Casa Buena is NOT fancy - very laid back, and a real bargain! Kat s/v Adelante!

I suggest you try the brand new Fiesta Inn hotel. It`s located at Marina Costa Baja, a new development that includes a huge marina, shopping center and the hotel. I think it`s the best place in all La Paz, I just stayed there a few weeks ago and was delighted. Hope this helps.

Are you doing the ownership program with the Moorings? If so, I have been looking into that. It seems like a great deal, how has it worked out for you?
