Attached Headquarter of Oceanography, Hydrography and Meteorology of the Mexican Marine Ministry produces nautical charts and other digital publications that can be very useful for your next trip The Chart Catalog is divided in 4 sections: North Pacific, South Pacific, Gulf of Mexico and Caribbean Sea and an International Nautical Charts.
PAPER NAUTICAL CHARTS Official Nautical charts at different scales of the Mexican Pacific, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea and islands’ coasts and littorals. Nautical charts are shown in orange in the maps and its number its shown in purple at the right upper corner and left down corner. The scale is 1:10,000 a bigger scale is represented by a red circle, the ports name and chart number. NAUTICAL CHART ENC S-57 Electronic Navigational Chart S-57 have digital information about the charts characteristics like the coast line, navigation help, topography, dangers, etc. This characteristics and properties like position, color, and shape are integrated in a data base by layers. This way you can select the characteristics you want to visualize. This charts do not include an electronic navigation program and only can be seen in the ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display Information System) certified by the International Maritime Organization, provided by the user. NAUTICAL CHART RASTER Raster Navigational Charts are georeferenced digital images that reproduce a paper nautical chart. This gives the sailor a familiar image with he is familiar with. This charts do not include an electronic navigation program and only can be seen in the ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display Information System) certified by the International Maritime Organization, provided by the user. SAILING DIRECTIONS Sailing directions for the Gulf of Mexico and the Mexican Pacific give information that isn’t visually available in nautical charts helping sailors of any kind of ship.
This information includes: coast characteristics, geographical positions, maritime signals, general data of the most important local places, service availability for craft victualling, characteristics of wharves, flows, winds, tourist basic information, etc. NOTICES TO SAILORS The charts and nautical publications must be updated incorporating information and alterations that take place and that are compiled by the Attached Headquarter of Oceanography, Hydrography and Meteorology and spread by means of the "Notices to the Sailors". They are edited monthly and all the information and innovations contain to correct the nautical charts and publications used on board of the ships and that are affected by such notices. NAUTICAL ALMANAC The Nautical Almanac contains the information about the position of the stars necessary for the practice of the astronomic navigation. There constitutes the Mexican version of the British and American "The Nautical Almanac" produced by the Observatory of Greenwich in the United Kingdom and by the Naval Observatory of the United States of America. TIDE TABLES These publications contain the information of tide of different ports of Mexico at any hour. This information has vital importance for all the navigators, from oceanic ships up to fishing, yachts and port operators. Tide information is of interest also for the study of the marine pollution, sedimentation, prevention of floods, oceanographic investigations and port constructions.
