Daniela Ambrosi, Marc Rosenfeld, Marcos Gil Rodríguez and Alexis Rodríguez are ready to embark on a six month adventure from Acapulco, Mexico to Sydney, Australia on their IATAIA Beneteau 40.7.
The sailors will ship out heading to Australia on this Tuesday April 17, 2007 to participate in the Rolex Sydney Hobart Race Regatta, one of the most important races in the world, that will take place from December 26th to January 1st 2008. Ambrosi said that their plans changed, their original plans were to make the 10 thousand miles trip in eight months and had to be shortened to six, and added that this is the best weather to ship out. “We have the mast, everything is packed. The ship is out of the water right now because of the mast setup, but tomorrow will be ready since the trip starts this Tuesday at dawn” said Ambrosi. The sailor pointed out that the problem they had with their Australian visas was already solved and that they are just waiting to sail out, “We will be shortening our stay on all the islands we were planning to visit, since the timeline is to reach Australia on mid October.” Among the islands they will visit are: Marshall, Tuamoutu, Cook, Samoa, Tahiti, Tonga and New Caledonia. The four Mexican sailors that will make the six month voyage on the IATAIA Beneteau 40.7 are Daniela Ambrosi (29 years old), Marc Rosenfeld (36), Marcos Gil Rodríguez (45) and Alexis Rodríguez (17), while the rest of the crew, Alejandro Rodriguez (43), Franco Ambrosi (27), Víctor Maldonado (40) and Tania Singer, will travel at a later date for the Regatta. |
