Puerto Escondido is sounding pretty nice, come play at all the islands, enjoy the snorkeling, diving with the harbor just a ½ hour to a couple of hours away. Plan to stay for “Loreto Fest 2007”. This is the 11th year, 2006 was our best L.F., with 2007 promising to be better. L.F. is a four day Music Fest starting May 3rd. The Ham test on Thursday gets things started and ends with awards on Sunday the 6th. There will be Music & more Music, regatta, seminars, games, and workshops

Music L.F. 2007

It's getting to be time for all of us who are involved with Loreto Fest to start getting organized.  One thing I particularly want to address is the possible misconception about the music during Loreto Fest.  Again this year I will be putting together a program for the music.  My goal is to have it finished and printed by Thursday morning, traditionally the first day of the Fest.  To make that happen I have to have complete song lists from each musician a week before.  If you have a stand-alone show and don't need anyone to back you up I just need the song list.  If, however, you'd like to have some of the other musicians for backup or would like to support some of the others you should get involved early.  We will be starting our rehearsals four weeks before the Fest and will be working at it five days a week - in the afternoons.  We will have sign-up sheets so you can reserve time slots on the days you want to rehearse - so you don't have to be there every hour of the rehearsal.

Last year we had several musicians show up at the last minute wanting to be part of the show.  Unfortunately the programs had already been printed and all the time slots filled.  My apologies to them.  2006 was my first year managing the music at Loreto Fest and I hadn't published the week-before requirement well enough.  This year, however, we have been putting out the word well in advance, in as many publications as we can get them in.

We want all the talent we can get for LF 2007.  If you are a musician, do recitals, or have some other talent for entertainment we'd like to have you.  Again, for those who were disappointed last year, my sincere apologies.  Please come back - just give me some time to get you on the program.

Each year the entertainment at Loreto Fest is better than the year before.  I expect that 2007 will be nothing short of great!
